Occupational Driver's License: Your driver’s license may be suspended, but you may be eligible for an occupational driver’s license (ODL). An occupational driver’s license will allow you to drive even though your license is suspended. In order to obtain an occupational driver’s license, you will be required to obtain the following: a driving record, an SR-22 insurance policy, and a letter from your employer listing the days and hours that you are required to work. The letter should stipulate any tasks that you perform while at work that require driving. In addition to the above requirements, one should also include the days & hours that he or she is requesting to drive. The effective date of an occupational driver’s license may vary depending on the reason for the suspension. The effective date may also vary depending on whether the person has had previous driver’s license suspensions.
